Final Reflection

Before attending MPU 2 classes, I was uncertain about myself, I do not really know what I want and what I am suitable with. However, after completing all the assignments and tests, I have a better understanding on myself. I have found out that I have many strengths as well as weaknesses through the S.W.O.T activity (S.W.O.T activity stands for strength, weakness, opportunities and threats). By listing out my strengths and weakness, I become more confidence with myself and also know that how much I need to improve and change my own self. I have also noticed the opportunities that I was offered by Taylor’s college. I have many chances to apply to universities. Moreover, the learning style and career test helped me understand myself further. I have found out that which type of learner (visual, auditory or kinesthetic) I am belong to and which career I have the highest possibility to be involved with. The SMART goal assignment then let me to realize how easy is it to fix and change my weakness into strength and accomplish my goal.

Assignments given in SAM program and MPU taught me a lot about the importance of time management. Through issue investigations for Biology, Chemistry, Psychology and Mathematical Studies, I have learnt how all these subjects co-exist help us in our understanding of the world. These projects have enabled me to become a better and more organized person. I am grateful for everything that I have experienced in SAM as well as MPU has made me a better person. I am now a more organized and extrovert person. My social circle increased as I have met people from different backgrounds such as friends from other states with different cultures. I have also joined the Prom Committee which helped me build my character and learn on how to work with different kinds of people. I am really grateful for choosing to study in SAM and having the opportunity to learn through MPU. There might be some hard times but the knowledge I have gained through SAM and MPU worth it!

In MPU 2, we are assigned to create a blog known as E-portfolio. We were taught on how to manage a blog. I never have a blog before so this is a brand new experience for me and I found out that I could reduce my stress level after expressing myself in my blog. I think MPU give me an opportunity to learn new knowledge and understand myself. Lastly, we are required to summarise on what we have learnt in MPU 2 in the final reflection. Now, I think I am one step closer to my goal as I was able to complete all the tasks given within the time frame. This helped in reducing my stress level and I think this will help me in my future career.

SMART GOAL & ACTION PLAN

SMART GOAL

My goal:

To improve my time management skill

Specific:

I want to learn to allocate my time properly and make use all of my leisure time and spend it to gain more knowledge and this improving my results.

Measurable:

I want to attain a better grade such as A by improving my time management.

Attainable:

I will plan a well organized time table which will help me to organize my time this help me to improve on my studies.

Relevant:

I hope that improving my time management could help me to organize my time and achieve a balance between studying and amusement so that I can live a healthy life style.

Time-Bound:

I hope that can learn to organize my time within the MPU periods so that it would help me in my future.

ACTION PLAN

The goal that I would want to be focus on the most right now would be improving my time management skill. By managing my time wisely, I would be able to go through my university life easier with minimum pressure and stress. However, I am sure there might be some difficulties when I’m working toward this goal. Assignments given will be one of the challenges. I have to organize and allocate my time properly so that I can complete my assignments on time while I have enough time to relax too. This would help me to endure all the stress in university that is bound to face as I could achieve balance between studying and amusement.

Upon entering SAM in March 2014, I first familiarize myself with the new study environment. Then, by August 2014, I had to submit all my assignments to be evaluated. Therefore, I always had to manage my time wisely so that I can complete and submit my assignments within the time frame given. After that, I had my FINAL examination on November 2014. I created a well-organized timetable that help me to improve in my studies and so I could have a minimum ATAR score of 90.0. Upon completing my finals I started to search and apply for universities. My action plan can only be carried out once I enrol into university by next year, around March 2015. I am sure I would actively join different societies or clubs to improve my social skills and also confidence level. And also while joining different societies or clubs, I could also ask for others opinions and ways in allocating their leisure time. I would discuss with them about time managing to come out with a better plan in managing my own time. By doing so, I believe I would be able to accomplish my goal to be a more organized person in the end of the year in December 2015.

To assist me in achieving my goal, I believe my family members play a very important role. My father and my mother always teach me ways to manage and organize my leisure time. They are my role-model as they always show us good examples in their daily life. Aside from my father and mother, my elder sisters play an important role in helping me while I’m preparing my time table too. As they are elder than me, they have more experiences when it comes to organising an excellent well-organised timetable. They always give me advices, guide me and help me out together with my timetable.

Obstacles that can prevent me from achieving my goal is my easily distracted characteristic. I am easily distracted by other media and lose my focus. I do not know how to complete things in my priority. For instance, I would not follow the time table that I have created and I would always find myself doing other things such as playing computer games, surfing the internet and reading storybooks.

To overcome these problems and achieve my goal, I would need to work harder and be more determined. I will study in school library or my study room to reduce the distraction of environment such as computer, bed or television. I will try my best to concentrate while I am studying. I will also set alarm while I play my computer so that I can stop myself from continue playing and start studying on time.

My Goal

As you guys should know that I’m finishing my South Australian Matriculation by the 12th of December so this means that I have to start choosing my coming path, looking for the courses and university of my choices. Since the starting of 2014, I knew my choice well that I will like to pursue a medicine degree. Therefore, I have done my researches on universities requirements on medicine. There are some universities of my choice which is University of Hong Kong, Taiwan National University, National University of Singapore and Monash University.

All the universities have high expectation on their students especially for medicine course where every students must achieve a minimum ATAR score of 90.0. All the universities have the same pre-requisites which are a higher passing grade in Chemistry and Mathematical Studies. Biology or Physics must also be taken. To be enrolled into a medicine course, the National University of Singapore, University of Hong Kong and Monash University requires an interview and applicants have to pass the interview in order to be accepted into the medicine course offered. In addition, for Monash University, international students are required to sit for the International Students Admission Test (ISAT).

As all three universities have a high competition to enroll in, I am planning to apply for an attachment in one of the hospitals in Malaysia. I would take this chance to expose myself to my future career and gain more experience which might help in my interview round. As become a fully certified doctor is my dream since I was young, I would put in all my effort to achieve it! Therefore, I have promised myself since SAM started that I will try my best to hit my goal without leaving any resent for myself. So, this is my dream, my goal. I want to be in one of the universities of my choices someday. I believe that everybody should have their own goal too. Always remember, it will never be late to start working for your goal. Don’t live this life meaninglessly. ps. Work hard, play hard ;)

My Inspiration

Hi guys! I’m back again with more information about myself. So, the topic for today will be the person who inspires me. The person who inspires me the most is my beloved parents.

Since I was young, my mother taught me a lot of things. My mother is a very talented person as she has very good sense of art. However, she sacrifices herself to go for further studies in art field. She stays at home and be a full-time housewife, just to take care of us. My mother is a strong and independent woman too. She treats me like a best friend instead of like a daughter. Every moment we spend together was the best moments of my life. Whenever I feel stressed or depressed, my mother will be the one who stand by my side and comfort me. She always has her own way to cheer me up. I am proud to have a mother that understands me.

My father is a very good and responsible man. We are an average family, but my father will always try his best to give us the best he could. Although he is busy working, he still had the time to spend time with us. Moreover, whenever I feel lost, I will share my problems with him. So, he is the one accompany me, gives me advices through his life experiences and guide me to the right path. He is always there to support and encourage me to seek opportunities to be a better person.

2012

Both my parents are my biggest inspirations to face life in many ways that would make everyone happier. I always feel grateful for having parents like them that I never know how to thank them enough for everything that they have done for me. Without them, I would never be where I am today. Because of them, I have a family full with laughter, peace and happiness. They had stood by me through all the ups and downs. I always feel that I am being secured, loved, appreciated, cherished and all these are originated from my parent. I truly glad for everything they have guided me in and inspired to be like both of them.

BIODATA

Hey, I’m Ngan Susan, 18 years old girl taking SAM program in Taylor’s College Subang Jaya. I am from March intake, which means I have to go through all the assignments and chapters to study in half a year. Although it is stressful sometimes, but I have to admit that it was a good experience that helped me learned a lot. I believe in horoscopes, I was born at 10 August 1996, and I’m a Leo baby. I’m the third child in my family. (ps. I have three sisters and I’m always proud of having them as my siblings). I love watching Korea dramas and enjoy K-pop music. My first impression to others are quiet, but trust me, I’m not. If you want to know more about me, I guess we shall be friends. Have a nice day everyone!

Recently, I have taken a learning style test that helps me to figure out which type of learning style is the best for me. I scored highest in kinesthetic learning style. This means that I am able to learn through movement and explore the environment around me. I am a frequent fidgeting person that I will constantly move my fingers, play with my pen while I am learning. I also prefer to stand and listen to music while I am learning or working. And when I am communicating with others, I will use sign languages so that others can more understand with what I want to say. Besides this, there is another 1, visual which I scored roughly the same marks. I wrote down notes during lectures and utilized diagrams and tables while I am learning to further increase my learning quality. I think I can further improve my learning experience if I pay more attention during lectures and ask more question so that I can always follow what my lecturer is teaching. By doing so, I can improve my understanding on different subjects.

Besides that, I also took a very interesting career test which really helped me to learn about myself and building a picture of my future. Activities we could do and those activities that we enjoy and familiar with were required to tick by us. My result showed that I scored highest in the Artistic sector which shows that I enjoy art and poetry and appreciate most artistic sectors. This indicates that I have the high possibility to involve myself in art field such as designer, architecture and photographer. I also scored equal marks in Conventional sector and Investigation sector. This showed that I am an organised person who likes to analyse problems and solve mathematical problems. These 3 different personalities truly showed who am I, helped me to understand myself more and helped me in choosing my future career.
